IND vs NZ, 5th T20I: Ross Taylor 1st New Zealand Male Cricketer To Play 100 T20Is

Taylor also became only the 3rd male cricketer after Shoiab Malik and Rohit Sharma to have played 100 T20Is for their countries.

New Delhi: New Zealand seasoned campaigner Ross Taylor on Sunday became the first Kiwi male cricketer to play 100 T20 internationals. Taylor achieved the record when he took to the field against Black Caps in the 5th T20 international against India at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Taylor joined woman all-rounder Suzie Bates (112) as the only 2 Kiwis to have played 100 matches in the shortest international format. Taylor also became only the 3rd male cricketer after Shoiab Malik and Rohit Sharma to have played 100 T20Is for their countries. Taylor is also on the cusp of achieving a major milestone when he plays the 1st Test of the upcoming 2-match series vs India. By representing his nation in the 100th Test in Wellington which starts on February 21, Taylor will become the only cricketer in history to have played 100 games in all 3 formats of international cricket. Taylor has so far represented New Zealand in 99 Tests, 228 ODIs and 100 T20Is notching up over 17,000 runs across formats. Rohit Sharma, who was rested for the last game while returning to captain the side on Sunday, also touched another milestone by playing his 100th T20I innings with just Malik (105) now lying ahead of him. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah too became the 7th Indian to play 50 T20Is on Sunday.
