Premier League Round-Up: Arsenal Stay At The Top With Win Over Leicester, Man City Thrash Bournemouth; Liverpool Continue To Struggle

EPL: Arsenal's win ensured they will finish this week on top despite Manchester City's victory.

Arsenal secured a 1-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday to consolidate their position at the top of the points table. Gabriel Martinelli scored the only goal of the match early in the second half to ensure that the Gunners take all the three points from the game. Their win means Arsenal now have 57 points from 24 matches with a goal difference of 29. They are only two points clear of Manchester City who also registered a 4-1 win against Bournemouth on Saturday but have played a game more than Mikel Arteta's men.

Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland, Phil Phoden and an own goal from Chris Mempham had helped City take a 4-0 lead in the first 51 minutes of the match before Jefferson Lerma's 83rd minute strike helped The Cherries pull one back.

In the other Premier League fixtures of the day, Liverpool failed to secure a win over Crystal Palace and had to settle for a goalless draw. After the set of fixtures on Saturday, the Reds are now at the seventh place on the table with 36 points from 23 matches. In addition, Fulham also secured a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers with Pablo Sarabia's 23rd minute goal being cancelled out by Manor Solomon's 64th minute kick.

In the match between Leeds United and Southampton,  The Whites managed to win the game 1-0 with the only goal of the match coming in the 77th minute, courtesy of Junior Firpo. A rather commanding performance was displayed by West Ham who won 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Danny Ings scored a brace for Leeds United while Declan Rice and Michail Antonio chipped in with a goal each- all in the span of 14 minutes.

Aston Villa also eased past Everton on Saturday with a goal each from Ollie Watkins and Emi Beundia.
