Premier League 2024/25: Arsenal Falls Short Of THIS Unique Club Record With Stalemate Vs Brighton

Arsenal Vs Brighton and Hove Albion: An entertaining fixture marred with a controversy ends 1-1, and with that, the Gunners fail to break THIS club record. Here are the details. Read below.

Arsenal Vs Brighton and Hove Albion: Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion gave the Premier League fans all over the world a memorable start to Matchday 3, as the Matchday's opener produced one of the best matches of the season already. This match had everything, brilliant goal, unreal saves, exuberant counter-attacks, controversial decisions, 'alleged' unfair red card, and what not.

The match has now ended 1-1 and with that, both sides now lose their cent percent winning record start to the season.

However, with the draw, Arsenal have failed to break THIS club record, which stood for 20 years. The legendary 'Invincibles' 2003/04 side of Arsenal went on a 9-match winning run in that season, and this is how they achieved it:

  • 4-1 win vs Middlesbrough (10/01/2004)
  • 2-0 win vs Aston Villa (18/01/2004)
  • 2-1 win vs Manchester City (01/02/2004)
  • 3-1 win vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (07/02/2004)
  • 2-0 win vs Southampton (10/02/2004)
  • 2-1 win vs Chelsea (21/02/2004)
  • 2-1 win vs Charlton Athletic (28/02/2004)
  • 2-0 win vs Balckburn Rovers (13/03/2004)
  • 2-1 win vs Bolton Wanderers (20/03/2004)

The current Arsenal team were on a eight-match winning streak and with the draw, the streak now comes to an end. However, both of these records stll remain way off the all-time record of Arsenal, which was 14 consecutive wins, that came under the legendary manager Arsene Wenger (10/02/2002 - 18/08/2002).

Arsenal Vs Brighton And Hove Albion Premier League 2024/25 Matchday 3 — As It Happened

Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion locked horns at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, keeping in mind that winner of the fixture will rise to top of the table. The game started off on a decent note, as both sides showed intent but failed to presist with it throughout the first half.

The opening blow came from the home side via Kai Havertz, as Bukayo Saka did brilliantly to win the ball and lay a lofted through ball for the German, and the latter did not disappoint, as he chipped Bart Verbruggen outside the box ro make it 1-0.

The biggest controversy, or say the turning point of the match came in the 49th minute, as Declan Rice was sent off for 'alleged time wasting', a decision which has now been heavily criticised by the fans.

The man advantage for Brighton proved to be fruitful, as only 10 minutes later, Joao Pedro equalised in what was his second Premier League goal in two games, as the Brazilian is enjoying a good run of form after scoring the last-gasp winner against Manchester United last weekend.

A series of scintillating saves followed at either end of the pitch and after valiant attacking efforts from both the sides, the fixture ended in a stalemate, and both sides shared the spoils with the scoreline reading 1-1.
