These remarks come after Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut's article in the party's mouthpiece Saamana. In the article, Raut accused the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in Maharashtra of attempting to turn India into a 'Hindu-Pakistan.'
Raut claimed that the BJP was following a divisive approach similar to the ideology that led to the creation of Pakistan by Jinnah, alleging efforts to disrupt India's secular fabric by creating a Hindu-Muslim divide.
Want To Erase History
Saamana also stirred a new controversy by calling those who are demanding the removal of Aurangzeb's tomb "Hindu-Taliban."
"Some new Hindutva advocates have raised such voices, claiming that just as the Babri Masjid was demolished, they will also destroy Aurangzeb’s tomb. These people are enemies of history and Maharashtra’s proud tradition," read the newspaper's editorial.
The editorial alleged that some people want to erase history, adding that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should "stop this dirty business" being carried out in the name of Shivaji Maharaj.
