Former Manchester United Midfielder Jesse Lingard Joins Seoul FC On A Free Transfer

Jesse Lingard will now ploy his trade for the South Korean side in K League 1. Read below.

K League 1 (South Korean First Division) side FC Seoul have made a blockbuster announcement by signing former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard on a free transfer deal. The Englishman's signing will be a big boost for the South Korean club, who are aiming to start their 2024 season on a stronger note, as they face Gwangju FC in the league opener on March 2, 2024.

Jesse Lingard's Career In A Nutshell

Jesse Lingard has had one of the most mixed careers in recent history as the Manchester United academy graduate came through the ranks and up the order to feature in the main roster, and was handed his debut by then coach, Louis Van Gaal in the 2014-15 season. Lingard has always been a subject to loan transfers and has been playing for a various number of clubs during his time in England. He has represented the likes of Leicester FC, Birmingham City, Brighton and Hove Albion, Derby County, before a permanent stay and spell at Old Trafford, that saw the Englishman feature 209 times and score 33 goals in all competitions and includes that all-famous FA Cup winner against Crystal Palace in extra time, in 2016.

However, inconsistent performances and United's constant purchase of midfielders and attackers, alongside the emergence of academy graduates sidelined Jesse Lingard and slowly turned out of favour. Lingard was then loaned to fellow Premier League side West Ham United in January 2021 for the end of the season and that proved to be the most impressive and best six months of the Englishman's career, as he went on rampage mode and started performing like a star player, and turned into one of the best Premier League players of that season, as he notched 9 goals and 4 assists in 16 appearances in world's richest football league.

His run of rich form earned him a national call-up as the midfielder was recalled to the national side for Euro 2020 preparation but even his best form of his life couldn't help him make a cut into the final squad as he was left out. After a highly disappointing 2021/22 season with Manchester United, the Englishman was transferred to Nottingham Forest on a free transfer and Jesse Lingard continued his poor form in the 2022/23 season before his release from the club and the 31-year old, after being 6 months without a club, finally found a club and the football fans will be hoping to see another rejuvenation of the former Manchester United player.
