However, after the conclusion of Matchday 13, fans were surprised to see Arsenal above Chelsea in the points table despite both sides having same number of points, goals scored, conceded, and therefore.... the same goal difference!
Even via the Head-to-Head criteria, both sides can't be separated, as the match at Stamford Bridge on Matchday 11 ended in a 1-1 draw.
So what exactly led to Arsenal currently being placed above Chelsea? Well, as per the rule book of the Premier League and FA (Football Association), if two or more teams can’t be separated either via points, goal difference, and head-to-head record, then the rankings will depend upon the alphabetical order.
As Arsenal starts with letter ‘A’ and Chelsea with letter ‘C’, therefore, the Gunners are ranked above Chelsea in the Premier League 2024/25 points table after Matchday 13.
Chelsea sit in third behind Arsenal in second in the Premier League table on alphabetical order 😅

Hectic December 2024 Awaits Arsenal
December is a hectic month for Arsenal, as they are schedule to play 7 matches in the space of 24 days, across three different competitions, startinbg with a marquee fixture and Derby against Manchester United at home on Thursday, December 5.
The Gunners will then travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham, before they turn their attention to home fixture in UEFA Champions League against AS Monaco.
The latter half of December holds less competitive fixture for Mikel Arteta's men, and the 2004 Premier League champions will be hoping to avoid adding more players to their injury list.
