Eng vs NZ, T20 World Cup: New Zealand Avenge 2019 WC Loss, Beat England To Storm Into Final

After being asked to bat first, Moeen Ali and David Malan starred with the bat as they played knocks of 51 and 43 respectively to power England to 166/4 against New Zealand.

New Delhi: New Zealand's opener Daryl Mitchell (47-ball 72*) and James Neesham (11-ball 27) starred with the bat to help Kiwis avenge their heart-breaking 2019 World Cup loss, beat England by five wickets in the 1st semi-final of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on Wednesday to reach their first-ever T20 World Cup final. The second semi-final will be played between Pakistan and Australia and the team that wins that match will take on Kiwis in the Final.

Chasing 165 for the win, Kiwis were reeling after losing two of most senior batsmen early after that fiery spell from Chris Woakes. Even the stats showed that 167-run total was never chased here. England were on top in most part of the chase and it all went down to Black Caps needing 57 runs off last four overs. A stunning cameo from Jimmy Neesham and hard-fought innings from Daryl Mitchell blew English bowlers away in the end.

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Moeen Ali and David Malan starred with the bat as they played knocks of 51 and 43 respectively to power England to 166/4 against New Zealand.

Moeen Ali played an unbeaten 51 runs in 37 balls, with help of three fours and two sixes. Apart from Moeen, David Malan played an innings of 42 runs. England scored 166 runs in 20 overs for the loss of four wickets.

Experienced bowler Tim Southee bowled very economically for New Zealand. He took one wicket for just 24 runs in his four overs.  Apart from him, Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi and James Neesham bagged one wicket apiece.

Soon after the 2021 T20 World Cup gets over, New Zealand cricket team will tour India in November. The Kiwis will play a three-match T20 series and a two-match Test series during India tour which will start with the first T20 on November 17.
