'You Take Things For Granted': Ravi Shastri's Slams Team India After Defeat To Australia

Australia defeated India by 9 wickets on Day 3 of India vs Australia 3rd Test in Indore to attain their first win in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

While fighting for a place in the finals of the World Test Championship, Team India were outclassed by Australia in the third Test on Friday in Indore. Chasing a facile total of 76, the Kangaroos did it with ease on day 3. Left-hander Travis Head scored 49 and helped Australia win the game.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri was disappointed after India lost the game.  "That is what a little complacency, a little bit of overconfidence can do where you take things for granted, you drop guard and this game will bring you down. I think it was a combination of all these things when you actually cast your mind back to the first innings, see some of the shots played, see some of the over-eagerness to try and dominate in these conditions. You reflect back, take a step back or two to analyse," Shastri said while commentating

Australia defeated India by 9 wickets on Day 3 of India vs Australia 3rd Test in Indore to attain their first win in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India lead the four-match Test series 2-1 and are yet to qualify for World Test Championship (WTC).

Just after Australia won the match against India, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has rated the Indore pitch used for the third India-Australia Test match as poor. The fixture lasted a little over two days with a total of 31 wickets falling in the match. 26 of the 31 wickets fell to spinners on a track where there was assistance for them right from the first session of Day 1. Notably, this was the third Test match on the trot in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy which finished within three days.

“The pitch, which was very dry, did not provide a balance between bat and ball, favouring spinners from the start," Chris Broad, the match referee noted as per the ICC report.

"The fifth ball of the match broke through the pitch surface and continued to occasionally break the surface providing little or no seam movement and there was excessive and uneven bounce throughout the match,” he outlined.

The fourth and final Test of India vs Australia Test series will be played in Ahmedabad. For India to make it to the WTC final, they need to defeat Australia in Ahmedabad Test.
