Talking about the game, wrist spinner Adam Zampa scalped four wickets as the Kangaroos restricted Sri Lanka to 209. The Island nation just could not capitalise on the kind of start they got from their openers and fell apart.
For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka made 61 runs while Kushal Perera scored 78 runs, putting up a solid 125-run stand for the first wicket before Australia made a comeback in the game. Australian skipper Pat Cummins scalped the wicket of openers and propelled a collapse and kudos to Zampa who managed the rest of the proceedings as he finished the game with the figures of 4-47. Apart from Zampa, Mitchell Starc also picked up two wickets, while Glenn Maxwell picked one wicket.
It was Australian batters Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis who starred with the bat and ensured their team’s first win in the ongoing tournament. Both batters ended up getting their respective half-centuries against the Island nation. For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka picked up three wickets while Wellalage picked up one.
