World Cup 2019: Warner gifts Player of Match award to young Aussie fan, wins million hearts
After his stellar knock against Pakistan, Warner at the post match presentation gifted the Player of the Match award to a special fan, who had cheered on the diminutive opener all through his match winning innings.
Australian opener David Warner scored a breezy ton against Pakistan to help Australia win a tantalizing encounter at Taunton on Thursday.
However, it was not just Warner's on field heroics with the willow which helped him win the match of the match, but a special post match gesture which won hearts of millions of cricket fans across the cricketing landscape.
After his stellar knock against Pakistan, Warner at the post match presentation gifted the Player of the Match award to a special fan, who had cheered on the diminutive opener all through his match winning innings.
The young enthusiastic girl in the stands at County Ground in Bristol had been cheering loud for Warner and the Australian team against Pakistan, hoping for an Aussies win after their loss to India.
In a video posted by Cricket World Cup, Warner is seen giving the award to the fan and also giving her an autograph. "We were waving out flag as he was passing by and he just came over," she said. "I really like him."
Warner's explosive innings at the top of the order set the right platform for the 'Yellow Shirts' which would eventually see her team seal two full points.
