Proteas Women register an 80-run win in their 3rd match to go on top of the group with 4 points.

They will next face Bangladesh Women in their final fixture on Saturday, and in-order to finish on top of the group, they will be needing a huge favour from West Indies Women, who are yet to face the 'undefeated' England Women.

South Africa Women Vs Scotland Women, Women's T20 World Cup 2024 Match 11 | As It Happened

Winning the coin toss and electing to bat first, South Africa Women were off to a blistering start, as the dynamic duo of skipper Laura Woolvardt and Tazmin Brits raced to 60 inside the powerplay in no time, and were looking well-set enough to post a 180+ total on a tricky surface with longer boundary lengths.

The boundary ropes and slow surface came into the play after the conclusion of powerplay, as Proteas Women batters threw away their wickets on ordinary deliveries, with skipper Laura Woolvardt handing a simple catch at covers Olivia Bell.

Couple of dry spells followed in and South Africa Women's run rate dropped from 10-an-over to to less than 9, but they managed to form small yet vital partnerships, which ultimately led them cross the 160-run mark by posting 165/5 at the end of their innings, which is the highest total of the tournamnt so far.

No fifties were recorded by them as Laura Woolvardt, Tazmin Brits, and Marizanne Kapp, all departed in their 40's.

Scotland Women were held against a daunting task of doing the unthinkable, and collapsed heavily in no time, as South Africa Women bowlers handed them a drubbing of the highest order.

Ailsa Lister was the sole batter from Scotland Women who managed to break into double figures as the top and middle order of the side find themselves back in the dugout with single-digit scores.

At halfway stage, Scotland Women were 50/6, with Chloe Tryon and Nonkululeko Mlaba combining for two wickets-each.

Katherine Fraser joined Ailsa Lister as the only other batter to break into double figures as Scotland Women were bundled out for 86, thereby handing South Africa Women a massive win.
