India Women Defeated By New Zealand Women: India Women have suffered a humiliating 58-run defeat in Match 4 of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 against New Zealand Women. Harmanpreet Kaur's side were outclassed and outwitted in every department, as White Ferns were too good for them at the Dubai International Stadium.

Amol Muzumdar will have to get back on the drawing board as India Women are up against Pakistan Women in their next encounter, and their fierce rivals are in terrific form, as they registered a thumping 31-run win against Sri Lanka Women.

It all started with India Women's sloppy effort in the field, as they dropped few catches and inconsistent line and length further assisted New Zealand to put up a total of 160 at the end of their innings.

On a pitch where anything in excess of 140 was very tough to chase, India Women bowlers conceded 20 runs extra, which eventually proved to be costly as they never looked like chasing down the target.

Such was the poor state of batting performance from the Indian side that the top scorer was skipper Harmanpreet Kaur with a score of 15, and next-best was EXTRAS with 13, joined by Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma (also 13).

India Women lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for 102 in 19 overs. Rosemary Mair endured a memorable outing by registering the figues of 4/19 in her 4 overs, and New Zealand Women will next face rivals Australia Woman on Tuesday.

Harmapreet Kaur Reflects On India Women's Defeat To New Zealand Women

During the post-match presentation ceremony, the Indian skipper admitted that the side did not play their best cricket, and added that the side will work on their fielding.

"Well definitely we didn't play our best cricket today. Going forward, we have to see what areas we need to improve and bring our best game in the upcoming games. We created chances but unfortunately we were not able to hold onto those chances. It's a part and parcel of the game. They played better cricket than us. Still, our bowlers did well. Our fielders did the mistakes. In these high-pressure games, you can't really afford to make those mistakes," said Harmanpreet Kaur.

"We have chased down many times 160-170. We weren't expecting 160 on this wicket. I feel we gave 10-15 extra runs. We kept losing wickets and I mean going forward, we have to learn how to go from now on. Still, we managed pretty well. With the way they started, I thought they would get 180. But we did well. We know this group is not easy. This is not the start we were expecting. But we have to see how we have to work as a bowling group and as a batting group," she added.
