Women's Asia Cup 2024: Shreyanka Patil suffered a hairline fracture in her fourth finger of her left hand during India Women's opening game at the Women's Asia Cup 2024 against Pakistan Women, and has now been ruled out of the tournament. The absence of the 21-year old will definitely be felt, as the left-arm spinner was key during India Women's thumping victory over Pakistan Women, with her registering the figures of 2/14 in her 3.2 overs. Shreyanka Patil sustained the injury during the match, as she attempted to take a catch during the first innings, but managed to play out the reminder of the game.

However, this is not the first time the off-spinner has sustained the same injury, as she managed to damage her fourth finger of her left hand during Women's Premier League 2024. Though, her comeback was extremely impressive, as she recorded a four-wicket haul in the WPL 2024 final against Delhi Capitals Women, as Royal Challengers Bangalore Women won their first title, which was indeed, the franchise's first-ever title across both IPL and WPL.

Shreyanka Patil finished the season with 13 wickets and was the highest wicket-taker in WPL 2, and Indian fans will be hoping that Shreyanka Patil returns to the side in similar form at the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in Bangladesh.

Here's What Tanuja Kanwar Can Bring To The Table In Women's Asia Cup 2024

Tanuja Kanwar's announcement as replacement of Shreyanka Patil makes absolute sense, as both, Tanuja and Shreyanka, are left-arm off-spinners, and have the tendency to scalp wickets in quick succession. Tanuja Kanwar played for Gujarat Giants in Women's Premier League 2024, and managed to take 10 wickets with an economy rate of 7.13, and was amongst the highest wicket-takers of the tournament.
