Will Indian Team Travel To Pakistan For Asia Cup 2023? Here Is What BCCI President Roger Binny Said

The Pakistan Cricket Board also came up with a big statement.

On Thursday, Roger Binny, the newly made president of the BCCI said that the Indian government will decide whether India will go to Pakistan to play Asia Cup or not. The board can not decide on its own. 

We'll have Asia Cup 2023 at a neutral venue. It's the govt which decides over the permission of our team visiting Pakistan so we won't comment on that but for the 2023 Asia Cup, it is decided that the tournament will be held at a neutral venue: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

The BCCI’s chief commented days after Jay Shah’s statement that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. 

"That is not BCCI's call. We need government's clearance to leave the country. Whether we leave the country or teams coming into the country, we need clearance.

"Once we get clearance from the government then we go with it. We can't make decision on our own. We have to rely on the government. We have not approached them yet," said the 67-year-old.

In reply to Jay Shah’s comments, the Pakistan Cricket Board also came up with a big statement that said,” The overall impact of such statements have the potential to split the Asian and international cricketing communities, and can impact Pakistan's visit to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and future ICC Events in India in the 2024-2031 cycle”.

"The PCB has to date not received any official communication or clarification from the ACC on the statement of the ACC President. As such, the PCB has now requested the Asian Cricket Council to convene an emergency meeting of its Board as soon as practically possible to discuss this important and sensitive matter."

India has not visited Pakistan since the 2008 Asia cup.
