Musharraf was also impressed with Dhoni’s long hair. He even advised him to not have a haircut.

Former President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) passed at the age of 79 after a prolonged illness at a hospital in Dubai, his family confirmed on Sunday, reported Pak's media Geo News. Pervez Musharraf was a cricket fanatic and was a huge fan of MS Dhoni. The former India skipper had long hair when he started playing for India. Musharraf was impressed with Dhoni’s long hair and even advised him to not have a haircut.

In the third ODI in Lahore of the 2005-2006 season, the Indian team was chasing the competitive target of 288, and Dhoni came in with Yuvraj Singh as the iconic batting duo powered India to a five-wicket win over Pakistan. While Yuvraj scored an unbeaten 79 off 87 balls, Dhoni amassed 72 in just 46 deliveries. MS Dhoni bagged the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.

“I saw a placard which said ‘Dhoni have a haircut’. If you want to take my opinion, you look good... Don’t have a haircut,” Musharraf had said.

MS Dhoni did not have a haircut for almost two years and carried the same look in the 50-over and T20 World Cups - in 2007 - with long hair.

The media agency reported that Musharraf had been undergoing treatment for an ailment at American Hospital Dubai. He was suffering from Amyloidosis. Pervez Musharraf was born on August 11, 1943 in Delhi, British India. He got the commission from Pakistan Military Academy Kakul on April 19, 1961. He was promoted to the rank of General in 1998 and took over as the Chief of Army Staff in Pakistan (COAS).  The former military dictator ruled Pakistan from 1999 to 2008.
