While the Indian cricket fans were busy watching India’s spectacular victory over Bangladesh, Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik wrote a few new chapters in the history book the gentlemen’s game. The veteran Pakistani batsman not only snatched the victory from Afghanistan’s jaws but won a million hearts with his warm gesture and proved that the spirit of the game is still alive.

The match suddenly took an interesting turn when Afghanistan bowlers started picking wickets in the death overs. On the other hand, Malik had held the nerve during the last phase of the 258-run chase.

Then came the final over where Pakistan needed 10 runs to win with 3 wickets in hands. Aftab Alam had the ball while Malik had the strike who then struck a six followed by a four to take the game home. The Pakistani team and fans erupted in joy while Aftab, who leaked the final runs, broke down to tears.

Shoaib Malik headed towards the crying bowler and cheered him up with open hearts.

Malik ended up scoring an unbeaten 51-run knock and grabbed the Player of the Match award for his heroics. After this victory, Pakistan is scheduled to face India for the second time in this tournament on Sunday.
