WATCH: Ranchi crowd turns mute after MS Dhoni gets clean bowled

The spectators were highly disappointed and so was Dhoni on his dismissal

It’s been more than two years that India played an ODI match at the JSCA stadium in Ranchi. While the men-in-blue locked horns with the Aussies in the third ODI on Friday, people turned up in numbers to watch their local hero, MS Dhoni, play at home probably for the last time.

But unfortunately, the game didn’t take off as expected. The Aussies ran through the Indian bowling attack in the starting overs and went on to post 313 runs on the board. In return, the hosts were once again haunted by the top order failure.

India were reduced to 27/3 within 6.2 overs but, then came the hometown hero to lighten up the mood of the spectators. Dhoni may have had received some of the loudest cheers while going at the crease but the one he received today was incomparable.

People chanted ‘Dhoni, Dhoni’ in unison to welcome the former captain at his home ground.

Here’s the video:

Dhoni and Kohli stitched a 59-run partnership for the fourth wicket and were expected to take the game closer. But unfortunately, Adam Zampa bowled out the local boy for 26 turning the crowd completely silent. The spectators were highly disappointed and so was Dhoni on his dismissal.

Here’s the video:

At the time of filing the story, India were 4 wickets down and needed 228 runs with Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav at the crease.
