India have taken the upper-hand in the second ODI between India Women and SA Women in the first innings. This performance comes in the backdrop of an eight wicket loss for India.
India Women vs South Africa Women 2nd ODI: The first innings of the second one-day between the two countries belonged to India. Courtesy of Jhulan Goswami’s four wickets, India women bundled out SA women for a cheap total of 157 runs. Lara Goodall was the highest scorer for SA women with 49 runs.
South Africa kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They lost both their openers quickly when the score was 20 runs. Mansi Joshi provided two break-through wickets at the top order while the left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad cleaned up the middle order. The remaining tail was wrapped up by Jhulan Goswami.
This match is part of a five match ODI series between India women and South Africa women. The ODI series will be followed by a T20I series between the two teams. The first ODI was dominated by SA women as they managed to win that game by eight wickets. India came back strong in the second ODI to restrict South Africa to just 157 runs. Now the onus lies with Mandhana, Mithali Raj and company to take the Indian team over the line and level the series 1-1.

Meanwhile, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced on Monday that India women will be playing a Test match for the first time since 2014. They will be competing against England women in a one-off Test match.
With this announcement, Indian fans would be seeing the women don the white jersey after a long time. This announcement came on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
