WATCH: Cheteshwar Pujara brings up a brilliant half-century against Australia

Pujara, who has faced 1000-plus deliveries in the ongoing series, looked contained with the bat, ensuring that the Aussies are ground to dust

India star batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, unbeaten on 70, went on to achieve a well-deserved half-century during Day 1 of the 4th Test encounter between India and Australia in Sydney on Thursday.

Pujara, who has faced 1000-plus deliveries in the ongoing series, looked contained with the bat, ensuring that the Aussies are ground to dust. India looked to be in a very comfortable position at Tea. Thanks to the wonderful batting conditions, Pujara settled in for day one.

India were in trouble after India lost out-of-form opener Kl Rahul for just 9 runs in the second over. However, Mayank Agarwal saved the day foe his side by scoring a brilliant knock of 77 off 122 balls.

After Agarwal’s dismissal, Pujara looking unflappable as ever with Kohli settling in nicely. The duo made it look hard for the hosts to fight back in the series.

However, Aussie skipper Paine didn't made any mistake to take a tumbling catch with both hand after Indian skipper Kohli edged a back of a length delivery by speedster Hazlewood in the 53rd over of the Indian innings.

The visitors dominated the first session of the day as opener Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara added some crucial runs for the second wicket after losing Lokesh Rahul cheaply. Agarwal went on to stitch a good partnership along with Cheteshwar Pujara as India were 69/1 at lunch on the first day.
