WATCH: Best final over ever in the history of T20 cricket

The 19-year-old not only defended six runs off the last over but also achieved his career-best bowling figures of four for 16

Liam Trevaskis, a part-time left-arm spinner shockingly took three wickets in a brilliant last over as Lancashire Lightning suffered a collapse to lose the match by four runs to Durham Jets at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 155 to win, Lancashire opener Alex Davies continued his fine form for the season and scored a 33-ball 53. The Lightning seemed to be in complete control at 88-2 by the end of first 10 overs but then badly fell in the second half of the innings.

Trevaskis conceded only one in the last over and had James Faulkner caught at long-on, Lamb stumped and Matthew Parkinson caught at deep midwicket. Lancashire needed 63 off the last 10 overs with six wickets left but ended up on 150 for nine.

The 19-year-old not only defended six runs off the last over but also achieved his career-best bowling figures of four for 16. Earlier, Trevaskis, in his seven appearances, had taken only one wicket.

After the game, Durham skipper Tom Latham seemed extremely surprised and said, “I'm still a little bit lost for words on how we actually came out victorious.”

"James Weighell was going to bowl the last over, but it looked easier with pace on the ball and Liam had bowled a good couple of overs beforehand. He hasn't played a huge amount of T20 cricket, and his main role is as a batter", he added.

Earlier in the game, Durham scored 154 and Will Smith remained the highest scorer with his 32-ball 37.

With this loss, the Lightning missed out the chance to move ahead of their opponents into the second spot in the North Group of the 2018 Vitality Blast.
