Traffic delays NatWest T20 blast game between Somerset and Gloucestershire
New Delhi: In the history of cricket matches there have been delays for many reasons, but the match between Gloucestershire and Somerset in the T20 blast got delayed for one of the most peculiar ones ever.
The Natwest T20 match was scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm local time on Friday at Bristol County Ground where Gloucestershire team had already arrived, waiting for their Somerset counterparts. However, Somerset team bus was nowhere to be seen as the scheduled time came closer.
The journey from Somerset’s hotel to the ground was 45 minutes and they had left the hotel by 2 PM. But their bus got stuck in traffic on the way due to an accident; a Lorry crash in the Weston-Super-Mare on the M5 expressway.
All the other drivers took the A38 route, which extended their 45 min journey to almost four and a half hours. The delay was conveyed to the match officials and they rescheduled. The team reached the ground at 6.30 PM and the match began at 7.15 PM.
It all however went in vain for the Somerset team and fans as they were defeated by Gloucestershire by 7 wickets.
