India Star Smashes A Six With Team Needing 4 To Win Off 3 To Help London Spirit Clinch Maiden Hundred Title
In a battle of nerves, it was the Indian all-rounder who had the last laugh as her six helped London Spirit clinch maiden Hundred women's title.
Tensed finishes are as much about holding one's nerves as it is about a test of skills under pressure. It was a last-over finish to the Hundred Women's competition and it was an entertaining fixture for all the cricket lovers. It all came down to the last three balls in a 100-ball game with the London Spirit needing 4 runs to win, 6 wickets down.
It was Hayley Matthews who had the ball in hand for Welsh Fire. Up against her was India star Deepti Sharma. While many would have suggested not to play a risky shot, given that she could have gotten out, Deepti held on to her nerves and kept it simple. As soon as she found that Matthews delivery was in her arc, she went for the shot.

While it did seem like the long-on fielder was interested in taking the catch, Deepti had connected it well enough to send it over her head for a six to win the game. Deepti had sealed a maiden Women's Hundred title win for London Spirit and as expected, animated celebrations followed.

Georgia Redmayne Adjudged The Hero Of The Match
Meanwhile, Georhia Redmayne was adjudged the Hero of the match. The wicketkeeper-batter top-scored with 34 runs off 32 balls in London Spirit's chase of 116 to win. Earlier, Eva Gray and Sarah Glenn had scalped two wickets apiece to allow London Spirit to keep Welsh Fire's total in check.

"I’m not sure anything is going to top that feeling, watching Deepti hit that six. Amazing feeling, everyone played their part today, the bowlers were brilliant especially in the middle phase," Redmayne said after the match.
