Stuart Broad Retirement: England fast bowler Stuart Broad announced his decision to retire from cricket on Day 3 of the fifth Ashes Test at the Oval in London on Saturday (July 29). Broad said that the ongoing match will be his last which means he will get to bowl for one final in his cricket career, which has already been an illustrious one for the fast bowler with over 600 wickets in the game's purest format to his credit.
"Tomorrow or Monday will be my last game of cricket," said Broad on Sky Sports Cricket on Saturday. "It has been a wonderful ride. A huge privilege to wear the Nottinghamshire and the England batch as much as I have. I am loving cricket as much as I ever had, it has been such a wonderful series to be a part of and I have always wanted to finish on the top. This series feels like one of the most enjoyable entertainment I've been a part of," he said.
After Broad's decision to retire from cricket, his fiancee Mollie King shared a loving tribute for her partner. The couple got engaged in 2021 and are parents to a daughter who was born last year. Mollie took to her social media to share a heartfelt tribute for Broad. She wrote: "What a moment @stuartbroad - your last test! My darling, you’ve brought joy to so many cricketing fans all over the world, and especially to your family."
"Watching you live out your dream has been something I will never forget. Annabella and I will be cheering you and the team on today, as always. We love you so much ❤️," she added.
