T20 World Cup 2024: Steven Finn Picks Jasprit Bumrah As His Bowler Of The Tournament
Steven Finn said that it is a joke how good Jasprit Bumrah is picking the Indian speedster as the bowler of the tournament in T20 World Cup 2024.
Steven Finn, the former England fast bowler, has picked Jasprit Bumrah as the stand out bowler so far in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Because of Bumrah's presence, Finn rated India as one of the major contenders who can go on to lift the trophy.
"It's a joke how good Jasprit Bumrah is. He bowls the hardest overs all the time. He bowls in the powerplay and he bowls at the death," Finn told BetVictor.
"His economy rate in the IPL was in the early sixes, when every other bowler in that tournament was going at 10s and 11s. He's such a huge player for India and I'd pick him as the bowler of the tournament.
"Bumrah is India’s key component. If he gets injured, then they're a different team. But as long as they’ve got him, they will always be dangerous.
"India are due to win a world tournament. They've not won one since 2011 (2013 Champions Trophy) . They've got some superstar, experienced players that will be desperate to play well.
"That counts for a lot towards the latter stages of a tournament such as this, to have that experience to be able to drag the younger players through. Those younger players are exciting – they're explosive and been battle hardened by the pressure that comes with the IPL.
"That IPL experience will serve them well towards the latter stages of the tournament."
Mitchell Marsh Can Lead Australia To Glory
Other than Bumrah, Finn was also in praise for Australia captain Mitchell Marsh. Finn even reckons that Marsh has it in him to lead the Kangaroos to T20 World Cup glory this year. The former Three Lions fast bowler acknowledged Australia's championship DNA as they somehow find a way to win titles.

"I really like Mitch Marsh as a leader and as a captain. He's not your typical, abrasive Australian but a bit more laid back and smiley – he seems to be the sort of person that can easily bring people together, which you need to do. Marsh is a really good foil to all of those characters in the dressing room," Finn said.
