'Stay In Crease, It's Not That Hard' - Starc Warns South Africa Batter To Stay In Crease - Watch

The official term to define this mode of dismissal is ‘Mankading’.

Australia are standing on the edge of winning a series against South Africa in the second Test in Melbourne. They restricted the Proteas to just 189 runs and then scored a huge total of 575/8 in their first innings. South African batters' terrible run continued and they were bowled out on 128, facing an innings defeat at the MCG.

On the Day 4 of the Test match, there was a bit of a tussle between Mitchell Starc and South Africa’s batter Theunis de Bruyn. While bowling, Starc paused and warned de Bruyn against leaving the crease at the non-striker's end.

Starc said, “Stay in the crease. It's not that hard. It's (the crease) there for a reason mate!”.

The official term to define this mode of dismissal is ‘Mankading’. Earlier, there was one controversy that transpired after Deepti Sharma ended up running out of Charlotte 'Charlie' Dean. 

Dean was looking good with the bat and she was batting on 47 but Deepti smartly run out the batter as Dean was halfway down the crease.  The incident started a debate among the viewers that whether the dismissal was ethical or not.

India’s premier all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin also was involved in a controversy when he used the ‘Mankad’ to dismiss Jos Buttler in the 2019 Indian Premier League. A lot of people from the cricketing world criticized Ashwin for using this mode of dismissal while others said that it was within the rules of ICC and that whatever the bowler did was right.
