Powered By Pathum Nissanka’s Century, Sri Lanka Stun England To Win 3rd Test By 8 Wickets

Sri Lanka, after being 0-2 down to England, staged a remarkable comeback in the third and the final ENG vs SL Test match of the series to win by 8 wickets in London on September 9 (Monday.)

Sri Lanka (SL) stunned England (ENG) in the third and the final match of the England vs Sri Lanka series to eke out a consolation win after being 0-2 down after the first two Tests. Sri Lanka defeated England by eight wickets in the 3rd ENG vs SL Test at the Kennington Oval in London on September 9. Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka scored a remarkable century and remained unbeaten at the score of 127 off just 124 balls in the fourth and final innings of the match, helping Sri Lanka register only their fourth victory on the English soil.

England were expected to end their summer season without a blemish but Sri Lanka rained on their parade. England still clinch the series 2-1 but the Ollie Pope-led side would not be happy the way they played in the final Test of the series.

Sri Lanka responded with 263 runs giving away a 62-run lead. However, England failed to capitalize big on their lead and could only muster up 156 runs in their second batting innings. Sri Lanka, led by Nissanka and Angelo Mathews chased the 219-run target with eight wickets remaining, handing England an embarrassing loss at home.
