Sourav Ganguly Clears Air Over BCCI President Tenure Row, Says Can't Remain Administrator Forever

The former India captain said that one cannot "remain an administrator forever" and is thankful for the opportunity provided by the board.

BCCI President Row: Former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has cleared the air over not contesting for a second term for the coveted post. The former India captain said that one cannot "remain an administrator forever" and is thankful for the opportunity provided by the board.

"I was president of Cricket Association Bengal for 5 years and served as president of BCCI for 3 years. After tenure gets over, you've to go," Ganguly said, reported ANI.

"You can't play and remain an administrator forever. It was great seeing both sides of the coin as a player and administrator," the current BCCI president added on Thursday.

Describing his role as a player tougher than the administrator, Ganguly cited that during a live cricket match the chances to correct action were none.

"The challenge as a cricketer was a lot more. As an administrator, you have time to correct things but if you nicked a delivery from Glenn McGrath on the first morning of a Test, you didn't have time to correct it. That's a major difference," Ganguly said, reported PTI.

BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla on Tuesday confirmed that Roger Binny has filed his nomination for the post of president for the upcoming BCCI polls. He added that all the nominations for BCCI office bearers positions filed on Tuesday "will be appointed unopposed".

This cleared that Ganguly was not in the race for the BCCI chief post for a second term.
