Sourav Ganguly’s 51st Birthday: Dada's Top Records As India Captain, Notable Accomplishments
Sourav Ganguly is regarded as one of the best leaders in Indian cricket history, having guided the side to the 2003 ODI World Cup final and Champions Trophy victory in 2002.
Affectionately known as ‘Dada’, Sourav Ganguly has been one of the most remarkable players and his contribution in the team and as a part of the management has also been immense. Sourav Ganguly's parents gave him a nickname "Maharaj," which means "Prince." Later, Geoffrey Boycott referred to him as "The Prince of Calcutta," and he has been known as such ever since.
Ganguly was reinstated as the Director of Operations in the Delhi Capitals last season after his time as the BCCI president ended. The former cricketer is regarded as one of the best leaders in Indian cricket history, having guided the side to the 2003 ODI World Cup final and Champions Trophy victory in 2002. During his captaincy, he helped groom several young talents and offered them chances in the Indian squad, including Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, and Zaheer Khan, who went on to become greats of the game.

• He is one of just five ODI cricketers to have scored 10,000 runs, take 100 wickets, and 100 catches.
• In the history of ICC Champions Trophy, he is the first player to score three centuries.
• Sourav Ganguly set the record for the highest individual score (117) by any batter in the ICC Champions Trophy final.
• He is the only cricketer to have won four consecutive man of the match awards in One Day Internationals.
• His name is still being considered in the list of most successful test captains, he captained 28 matches out of which 11 were won by India. Even though the record is being broken by Virat Kohli in 2019.
• He is the ninth-highest run-scorer in ODI history (11363) and third among Indians behind Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
• He hit 183 runs in the Cricket World Cup, the greatest individual score by an Indian batsman.

Top Awards: He has received various honours for his great contributions to sports like Sports Star Person of the Year, Arjuna Award, CEAT Indian Captain of the Year, Padma Shri 2004, Rammohan Roy Award are top among them. He was named ODI Man of the Match 31 times. In Test cricket, he won six Man of the Match honours. On May 20, 2013, the West Bengal government bestowed the Banga Bibhushan Award to Sourav Ganguly.
