Shubman Gill Discharged From Chennai Hospital, Likely To Miss ICC Cricket World Cup Match Between India And Pakistan

Shubman Gill has been discharged from the Chennai hospital where he was reportedly undergoing treatment for Dengue. Shubman's recovery will be closely monitored by BCCI's medical team.

Shubman Gill Discharged From Chennai Hospital: Star Indian cricketer Shubman Gill has been discharged from the hospital in Chennai where he was reportedly undergoing treatment for dengue. As per several media reports, Gill's platelet count had dropped, leading to his hospitalization. In what comes as a huge relief for team India fans, the prolific ODI batter has now been released from the hospital, and his recovery will be closely monitored by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team. The positive development comes just ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup match between India and Afghanistan on Wednesday (October 9). Gill's availability for tomorrow's IND vs AFG ODI World Cup 2023 match remains uncertain.

''Shubman Gill was on drip at the Chennai team hotel for the last couple of days. However his platelet count dropped to 70,000 and as it is a case with dengue patients, once the count is below 100,000, you are admitted to a medical facility as a precautionary measure. He was admitted for all mandatory tests on Sunday night when India played Australia but by Monday evening was released,'' a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Shubman Gill reportedly tested positive for dengue a few days ago after which he was forced to miss India's opening ICC Cricket World Cup match against Australia. It was learnt that Shubman's platelet count is still low and it might take a few more days from the star batter to make a comeback.

It seems all but certain that Shubman will miss India's second match in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which is against Afghanistan on Wednesday (October 9) and also the high-octane ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan on Saturday. Team India will definitely miss Shubman Gill contributions but his health and well-being is the top priority at the moment.
