Shikhar Dhawan Confirms He Will Play In This T20 League Days After Retirement

Shikhar Dhawan To Play In This League? Days after announcing his retirement, the left-handed batter has joined a T20 tournament.

Days after announcing his retirement from international and domestic cricket Shikhar Dhawan has confirmed that he will be playing a league meant for retired cricketers. Notably, as mandated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) those India players who are playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) cannot play in any other franchise-based T20 league. However, Dhawan announced his retirement from Indian cricket too, making him eligible to play in this tournamemt.

The tournament that Dhawan will be featuring in happens to be the Legends League Cricket (LLC).

"My body is still conditioned for the demands of the game, and while I'm at ease with my decision, cricket is an inseparable part of who I am, it will never go out of me. I am eager to regroup with my cricketing friends and continue to entertain my fans as we create new memories together," the left-handed batter said in an official statement, as reported by news agency PTI.

Shikhar Dhawan's Career In Numbers

Dhawan played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20Is- accumulating 2315, 6793 and 1759 runs in the three formats respectively. He had a stellar first-class career. In 122 first-class matches which includes the 34 Tests, the southpaw accumulated 8499 runs. He featured in over 300 List A and T20 matches, scoring 12074 runs in the 50-over format and 9797 runs in the shortest format.

"As I close this chapter of my cricketing journey, I carry with me countless memories and gratitude. Thank you for the love and support! Jai Hind," Dhawan captioned a video in which he announced his decision to hang up his cricketing boots.
