Shane Watson to visit Pakistan after 14 years to play last leg of PSL

The Pakistan leg of PSL 2019 is slated to begin from March 7 with Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi locking horns.

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has confirmed his visit to Pakistan to participate in the last leg of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He has been one of the numerous overseas cricketers who hasn’t been to Pakistan in the previous editions, opting to play only in the UAE leg of the tournament.

“It has been a tough decision, more so from my family’s point of view and it all came down to support that my wife and my family has been given,” Watson was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

“I am very excited as it has been 14 years since I was in Pakistan last,” Watson added.

This decision by Watson will give his team Quetta Gladiators a boost going into the playoffs as the Aussie has been a match-winner for them. The 37-year-old has already scored 332 runs for the Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing PSL season. The team has already qualified for the playoffs, winning seven of its nine games.

PSL’s last leg

Karachi will host eight matches in the Pakistan leg of the tournament as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earlier decided to shift three matches from Lahore after political and military tension between India and Pakistan.
