Shai Hope replaces injured Russell in West Indies T20 squad for India series
West Indies squad for T20s series against India: Shai Hope was asked to stay back by for the three-match T20 series after Andre Russell was ruled out because of an injury sustained during the Afghanistan Premiere League
Shai Hope replaced Andre Russell in the West Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against India starting on Sunday at Eden Gardens Kolkata.
Russell, initially named only for the T20 leg of the India series, was ruled out of the three-match series after sustaining an injury in the Afghanistan Premier League.
West Indies chief selector Courtney Browne confirmed Russell's unavailability for the India series but did not give the details of his injury.
"Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are injured at this time. Ashley Nurse will miss both the remainder of the India tour and the Bangladesh tour as he recovers from his injury. We wish the team every success on a challenging assignment in India," Browne said in a statement.
Hope, who was part of both the Test and ODI squads and have been asked to stay back with the team for the T20 series. Hope scored 250 runs at an impressive average of 62.50 in the recently concluded ODI series which India won by 3-1.
