India Legends bowler, Manpreet Gony’s Facebook account was flooded with tweets from SL fans after the bowler hit SL’s Jayasinghe ‘unintentionally’. Watch the video below
India Legends defeated Sri Lanka Legends in the final of the Road Safety World Series by 14 runs. Captain Sachin Tendulkar was “ecstatic” after the victory of his team. But one incident happened in the 16th over of the match when Mnapreet Gony was bowling to Jayasinghe. It was a free-hit which was hit straight back to the bowler, Gony and he threw the ball at Jayasinghe which hit him on the shoulder.
Sri Lankan fans are pretty upset about the incident and are voicing their opinions clearly on social media platforms. Take a look at the incident in the video:
This incident irked Lankan fans who flooded Manpreet Gony’s Facebook timeline with a lot of angry comments. Take a look at some of the comments on Gony’s old posts:
Gony apologized right away for throwing the ball like that exclaiming that it was an unintentional gesture by the bowler. Sri Lanka captain Dilshan and other players were visibly unhappy in the dugout.
The match didn’t tilt in favor of anyone till the very end when the Indian bowlers curtailed the run-flow.
The win must come as a relief as India Legends bowling after putting a good enough score was not very attractive. Without taking a single wicket, India Legends gave away 62 runs in 7.1 overs. It was looking as if Jayasuriya and Dilshan would run away with the game for Sri Lanka Legends. Only Kaushalya Weeraratne scored runs at a brisk pace after both the openers were back in the hut posing some sort of a threat in front of India Legends bowlers. He was dismissed due to Vinay Kumar’s brilliance in the field.
