Who Called R Ashwin After He Announced Retirement? Check Out His Call Log

R Ashwin posted a screenshot of his call log after his retirement announcement on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. His call log features calls from two legendary former Indian cricketers.

Ravichandran Ashwin shocked everyone with a surprise announcement of his retirement from international cricket following the conclusion of the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test on December 18 (Wednesday). Ashwin has now posted a screenshot of his call log after his retirement announcement on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. His call log features calls from his dad and two legendary former Indian cricketers.

The cricketing community was taken by surprise when Ashwin attended the post-match conference at The Gabba in Brisbane alongside Indian captain Rohit Sharma and revealed that it was his last day as an international cricketer. Interestingly, Ashwin played in the previous IND vs AUS Test at Adelaide but was dropped for the Gabba Test.

On December 20 (Friday), Ashwin took to X and posted a photo of his call log which featured two missed calls from his ‘Dad’ and a call each from the former India cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev. Notably, Tendulkar and Ashwin were teammates in Test cricket for approximately two years and both were members of the winning 2011 ODI World Cup squad.

Ashwin expressed his amazement at having a call log featuring the likes of legendary figures in world cricket Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev on the final day of his international cricket journey.

“If some one told me 25 years ago that I would have a smart phone with me and the call log on the last day of my career as an Indian cricketer would look like this, I would have had a heart attack then only. Thanks Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev paaji,” wrote Ashwin.
