Afghanistan star wrist spinner Rashid Khan met the former India skipper MS Dhoni ahead of his team’s World Cup 2023 clash against Pakistan. The star player took to his Instagram handle and posted a photo with MS Dhoni and wrote, "Always a pleasure to meet you Mahi bhai@mahi7781."
Rashid has been playing a crucial role in Afghanistan's performance in the ongoing World Cup. He played a pivotal role in the game against England, ending the game by scalping a three-wicket haul. Afghanistan created one ion the biggest upsets in World Cup history when they defeated England by a margin of 69 runs at New Delhi. On the back of this win, the Afghans have now sealed their second win in the World Cup in 18 games as they outplayed Scotland during the 2015 campaign.
The Afghans' openers gave a solid start against the English side and ended up putting up a 114-run opening stand, courtesy to Gurbaz and Zadran. Talking about Rashid, he has been a stalwart of Afghanistan cricket. In the auction of IPL 2022, Khan was roped in by Gujarat Titans for INR 15 crore. His contribution to Afghanistan cricket has been immense as he also went on to donate his match fees for the tournament to support the victims who were affected by a devastating earthquake in Afghanistan.
