Ranji Trophy Returns: BCCI Releases India's 2021-22 Domestic Calendar, To Conduct 2127 Matches 

As per the announced schedule, the season will kick off with the Senior Women’s One Day League, followed by the Senior Women’s One Day Challenger Trophy.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday released the schedule for the Ranji Trophy, for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

The new season of the India's premier domestic cricket tournament will commence on September 21, 2021 and will be completed in a three-month window. As many as 2127 games will be played across various age groups. 

As per the announced schedule, the season will kick off with the Senior Women’s One Day League, followed by the Senior Women’s One Day Challenger Trophy. There will be 160 matches in the One Day League while the Challenger Trophy comprises 4 matches.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) will begin from October 20 while the Vijay Hazare Trophy (One Day) will take place from February 23, 2022. The Ranji Trophy will start on November 16 and run till February 19. The format remains unchanged with 38 teams divided into four groups–A, B, C and Plate.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement on Saturday said, "The BCCI is confident of hosting the domestic season with health and safety of players and all people involved being paramount." 

It is worth noting that the matches will run parallel to the T20 World Cup.
