PSL 2021: Quetta Vs Islamabad Match Postponed As Australian Cricketer Tests Corona Positive
Fawad Ahmed of Islamabad United tested positive for corona virus on Monday after which the match against the Quetta Gladiators was postponed to 2 March 2021. None of the other players were found to be positive.
In the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2021, the match between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United was postponed as one of the players was tested Covid positive on Monday. Pakistan Cricket Board provided this information. Earlier, the match was scheduled to start two hours late at 9 pm, against the original time of 7 pm, but then the decision was taken by the PCB to postpone the match to Tuesday.
"A player from one of the sides featuring in this evening’s match has tested positive. The player had showed symptoms two days ago and had been immediately isolated. Members of his side have tested negative while the players of the other side are being tested. Match to start at 9:00 pm (local),” mentioned a Twitter thread by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Later, it was confirmed that Pakistan-born Australian Fawad Ahmed is the player who was tested positive for corona virus. He plays for Islamabad United. In yet another Twitter post, the PCB confirmed that the match has been rescheduled and that the tickets bought for the game on 1st would be valid for the postponed match as well. They wrote: “Test results of both Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United squads have come back negative. This is being done to ensure players from both sides get time to prepare for the game. Tickets will be valid for tomorrow.”

Fawad Ahmed is Pakistan born but he received his Australian citizenship in 2013. He is a 39-year old leg spinner who has played in BBL and also represented Australia in three T20I’s.
The match between Quetta and Islamabad will be played on 2 March 2021, at 7 pm local time.
