Pakistan vs England: Hosts Lose Multan Test By An Innings After Scoring 556 Runs In First Innings; Three Lions Take 1-0 Lead

Pakistan vs England: Pakistan have succumbed to a defeat in Multan despite scoring 556 Runs in first innings.

England have beaten Pakistan by an innings and 47 runs in Multan. For the first few days that looked like an improbable result as the Men in Green won the toss and elected to bat first on a belter of a surface and then the hosts went on to pile 556 runs in the first innings. However, England came back and how.

The Three Lions scored runs at a rate of over 5 and posted a mammoth 823/7d before declaring their first innings with a lead that proved to be enough for them to register a win by an innings and 47 runs. The result was a significant one as it marked England's second innings win in Asia and their first ever since 1976.

With the ball, Pakistan bowlers failed to get England's 10 wickets. However, English bowlers did that twice on a batting paradise. Jack Leach picked 3 wickets in the first innings and reduced to get  4 wickets in the second to emerge as the pick of the bowlers. Brydon Carse scalped 2 wickets each in the two innings while Gus Atkinson also had 2 wickets each in the first and the second innings. Shoaib Bashir had a wicket in the first innings but none against his name in the second. Chris Woakes had a wicket each in both the innings.

Even though Pakistan captain Shan Masood slammed his maiden Test ton in the match, this is now his sixth Test defeat in a row as skipper.
