PSL: PCB Shifts Remaining 20 Matches To UAE Amid Covid19

Pakistan Super League (PSL): The league was earlier played in Pakistan. It had got suspended after the Covid-19 cases started rising in the Islamic Republic.

Karachi: The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has granted permission to host Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in UAE, as per Geo TV. The decision has come due to the rising cases of Covid-19 in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must have taken a sigh of relief after getting clearance from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government to host the tournament. Although it is not yet clear whether the matches would be held in Abu Dhabi or in Dubai.

There are 20 more matches left to be played in the sixth edition of PSL. The season had to be stopped midway in early March 2021 as a couple of players tested positive for Covid-19.

The dates of the remaining matches are not yet confirmed but earlier, the matches were supposed to be held from June 1 to June 20 in UAE. According to Cricket Pakistan, the players bound for UAE need to be tested negative twice before getting on a flight to UAE on May 22. On reaching UAE, the players will have to follow a 10-day quarantine period as designated by the UAE government.

The sixth season of PSL began on 20 February 2021.  A total of 34 matches are scheduled to be played in the 6-team tournament. 14 matches so far have been played in the tournament. Shockingly, despite the bio-secure bubble, players tested positive for coronavirus infection.

The first was reported on March 1, when Australia's Fawad Ahmed tested Covid-19 positive. The very next day, as per PCB, two more foreign players, along with a support-staff member had tested positive.
