Exclusive: Nepal PM Oli Meets Chinese President Xi, Eyes Loan Waiver As India Watches On

Nepal PM KPS Oli has embarked on a four-day trip to Beijing — his first foreign trip in this term — to seek a loan waiver for BRI projects even as issues between Kathmandu and Beijing pile on.  

India-Nepal: Nepal Prime Minister KPS Oli has embarked on a crucial visit to China even as issues between Kathmandu and Beijing continue to pile on, primarily over the pending mega projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). This is Oli’s first foreign visit after becoming the Prime Minister of Nepal for the fourth time this July.  Since coming to power, PM Oli has had several interactions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as with senior Indian ministers and officials.
