Not Much Improvement In Ben Stokes's Health, England Star Unlikely To Play Ashes Series

Ben Stokes has taken a hiatus from cricket, due to mental health issue. He has also withdrawn from the IPL and the T20 World Cup. He is tentatively scheduled to make a comeback next year.

New Delhi: England's team may suffer a setback ahead of the Ashes series later this year. The team's star all-rounder Ben Stokes would possibly not be a part of the Ashes series. Ben Stokes had decided to take a temporary hiatus from Cricket in July 2021, citing mental health issues. He is likely to make a comeback next year. 

Ben Stokes had taken a break from cricket before the series against India began. Ben Stokes has also stated that he won't be participating in the second part of IPL Season 14 as well as the T20 World Cup. According to reports, Ben Stokes is still suffering from mental health issues. 

According to British newspaper 'The Telegraph', Ben Stokes is likely to make a comeback to International Cricket next year.. England is scheduled to tour the West Indies early next year. Ben Stokes is likely to return to the squad during the series against the West Indies. In its report, The Telegraph has also claimed that Ben Stokes' condition has not improved much from before.

Bio bubble adds to woes:

The past year has indeed been extremely difficult for Ben Stokes. Ben Stokes' father succumbed to Cancer last year. At the same time, COVID-19 pandemic led to imposing of strict restrictions and protocols. It is also claimed that Ben Stokes' mental health was impacted by these two factors. 

The COVID-19 protocols have created a stir between the England Cricket Board and Australian Cricket Board. Given the strict COVID-19 regulations imposed by Australia, many English players are unwilling to go to Australia to play the Ashes. However, England would be announcing their squad for the Australian tour next month.
