Harry Brook and Joe Root smashed quikcfire 50's, as England are looking to play out their batting order, given that they have three days in hand, and New Zealand all but out of the chase.

A win, which seems inevitable, will be of utmost importance for the Ben Stokes-led side, as not only they will improve their PCT (Points Percentage), but also hamper the path of fellow contestants New Zealand, who are currently in a better position than England.

Joe Root remains unbeaten on the individual score of 73, but Harry Brook departed on the score of 55, as he missed out on a sensational and unique feat.

If the Englishman had managed to score yet another 100, he would have become the first-ever cricketer from the country to score three consecutive 100's in 3 innings in Test matches on New Zealand soil.

Will Joe Root Secure His 36th Test Ton?

Joe Root stands 27 runs away from creatingb history, as the legendary batsman has a chance of equalling Rahul Dravid's feat of 36 Test tons.

The Englishman currently sits 6th in the all-time list with 35 Test tons, and can go to joint-fifth alongside 'The Wall' Rahul Dravid if he manages to score 27 more runs on Day 3.

England can pretty much assess the conditions and decide accordinly, as all the things have fallen in their favour and Joe Root can manage to bat out the first two sessions to get closer to a double ton.
