'Gully Cricket Vibes': Netherlands Players Search For Ball In Bushes After Dawid Malan's Massive Six
NED vs ENG: The incident occurred in the 9th over of the match as Malan smashed a massive six off left-arm spinner Pieter Seelaar.
Drama unfolded in the first ODI between England and Netherlands after Netherlands players had to join the ground staff in searching for the cricket ball in the bushes following a huge six by England's Dawid Malan. A video of Netherlands players searching for the ball has gone viral on social media, reminding fans of their childhood days while playing gully cricket.
The incident occurred in the 9th over of the match at the VRA Cricket Stadium in Amstelveen as Malan smashed a massive six off left-arm spinner Pieter Seelaar. The ball crossed the perimeter of the stadium and landed in the bushes.
With the ground staff not being able to find the ball, some Netherlands players joined them in the search. "The ball hunt is on," ICC tweeted with photos of the incident.
Coming to the match, Dawid Malan smashed 125 runs off 109 balls, with the help of three sixes and nine fours. Phil Salt and Jos Butler also hit centuries while Liam Livingstone scored a quickfire half-century to take England's total to 498. England thus created a world record for the highest team total in ODIs.
The video saw a flurry of reactions on Twitter. "We used to play less and do the ball hunting more playing in the backyard," one user tweeted. Another wrote, "In search of international cricket they found gully cricket."
