Netherlands Stun Scotland, Pull Off Highest-Ever ODI Chase

This achievement puts Scotland ahead of India’s 360-run chase against Australia in 2013, marking a major milestone in Dutch cricket.

Netherlands etched their name in the record books with a historic performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2023–27, successfully chasing a mammoth target and surpassing the achievements of cricketing heavyweights like India and England.

Facing Scotland, the Dutch side was part of a high-scoring thriller where a combined 743 runs were scored.

Batting first, Scotland posted a formidable 369/6 in 50 overs, powered by a sensational innings of 191 runs from George Munsey off 150 balls, which included 14 boundaries and 11 sixes. Matthew Cross also made a key contribution with 59 runs.

Netherlands' Monumental ODI Chase

In response, the Netherlands pulled off a record-breaking chase, reaching the target in 49.2 overs with six wickets to spare—their first-ever successful run chase of over 300 in ODI cricket. Star opener Max O'Dowd led the charge with 158 off 130 deliveries, while Teja Nidamanuru (51 off 42) and Noah Croes (50) provided crucial support.

With this performance, the Netherlands completed the third-highest successful run chase in ODI history, behind only South Africa's 438 against Australia (2006) and England's 364 against West Indies (2019).

This achievement also puts them ahead of India’s 360-run chase against Australia in 2013, marking a major milestone in Dutch cricket.
