PAK vs BAN: Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangaldesh's Hero On & Off Field, Donates Prize Money To Flood Victims

PAK vs BAN: Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh's Player Of The Match in the 1st Test against Pakistan, donated the prize money to the flood victims in his country.

Bangladesh have scripted history. The Bangla Tigers beat Pakistan in Pakistan in the first of the two-match Test series. Veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's win in this fixture. He was even adjudged the Player Of The Match. After receiving the prize, Mushfiqur made a big announcement and revealed that he will be donating the prize money to the flood victims in his country. Notably, the right-handed batter played a brilliant innings of 191 against the home side in Rawalpindi.

"I want to make an announcement, want to donate my prize money as there’s been flood back in Bangladesh," Rahim said after Bangladesh's 10-wicket win over Pakistan, their maiden victory over this opponent in the game's longest format.

It is pertinent to note that floods have wreaked havoc across 11 districts of Bangladesh. The disaster has affected millions of people and led to deaths as well with the official toll increasing by the hour.

What Happened In PAK vs BAN 1st Test In Rawalpindi?

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first. Their bowlers were right on the money and the Shan Masood-led team were reduced to 16/3 on Day 1. But Pakistan staged a comeback with Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan scoring centuries. Shakeel made 141, Rizwan scored 171 as the home team declared their first innings for 448/6.

In response, Bangladesh went on to take a first-innings lead. This was the first time in 28 years that Pakistan had fielded a Playing 11 in a Test match which had no specialist spinner. Bangladesh posted 565, 117 more than what Pakistan had managed to post in their first innings. Rahim faced 341 balls to score 191 while Shadnam Islam and Mehidy Hasan chipped in with scores of 93 and 77 respectively.

In the second innings, Pakistan were bowled out for 146 with Mehidy Hasan Miraz scalping four wickets and Shakib Al Hasan getting rid of 3 Pakistani batters. Bangladesh needed 30 runs to win which their openers ensured that the team put without losing a wicket.
