Mohammed Shami 'Bandaged' But Nearing Top Speed As He Trains In Bengaluru Stadium Hours After India's 46 All Out: Report
Mohammed Shami was spotted at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium bowling at the nets after the end of the day's play in Bengaluru.
India had a nightmarish day on the cricket field on Thursday (October 17) with their team suffering a dramatic collapse to get bundled out for 46 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It was a forgettable outing especially after India got all out for their lowest ever Test total on home soil after winning the toss and electing to bat.
However, after a day on the cricket field which belonged totally to New Zealand, Indin fans had a good news coming in. Indian speedster Mohammed Shami, who has reamined sildelined due to injury ever since the ODI World Cup 2023 final in November last year, was seen bowling in the nets after the end of play on day two. A report carried by RevSportz has claimed that Shami is approaching his top speed with his intensity also nearly matching match-level at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he continues his rehabilitation.

While Shami's knee was reportedly bandaged and strapped, he initially bowled with a short run up but gradually started bowling the way fans have seen him bowl in international cricket over the years. It is being learnt that as Shami bowled in the NCA facility, he was accompanied by the acacdemy's lead bowling coach Troy Cooley and Nitin Patel, the head of sports science and medicine.
Shami's fitness will be crucial for India come their five-match Test series against Australia Down Under. While India captain Rohit Sharma hinted that Shami might miss at least the start of the Australia series, given that he faced a setback on his way to recovery, the Men in Blue would ideally want to have him available and with overs under his belt at least for the latter half of a long tour.
