Pakistan cricket team's former all-rounder Shahid Afridi has left the Lanka Premier League midway and is returning back home to his country. Hard-hitting all-rounder Afridi, skipper of the franchise Galle Gladiators in the ongoing Lanka Premier League 2020, has participated in 3 matches so far this season.

Afridi took to social media on Wednesday to announce that he had to return home due to a "personal emergency", but assured that he would return to Sri Lanka as soon as the situation is normal.
Afridi leaving the tournament midway is a big setback for his team as he played a stormy innings in his first match of LPL. Galle Gladiators have not won a single match so far this season. The team, captained by Afridi, faced defeat in all three of their matches. In such a situation, the team's morale might get low due to Afridi's sudden departure.

When Afridi returns back to Sri Lanka to join his team, he may have to be quarantined for 3 days again. However, it is believed that he will not be quarantined for more than 3 days, as he has already developed a corona infection and antibodies to corona were found in his body in the test on reaching Sri Lanka earlier. That is why he was allowed to play in the league immediately after reaching Colombo on 24 November.

In his first match as captain of Galle Gladiators, 40-year-old Afridi hit 58 runs off just 23 balls. Despite this, his team had to face defeat. However, he failed with the ball and bat in the next two matches.
