Ghaziabad Eatery Worker Arrested For 'Spitting' On Customer's Roti: Caught On Cam

Soon after the video surfaced on social media, Khoda police visited the eatery located near Lodhi Chowk police outpost in Ghaziabad and arrested the 20-year-old accused.

A man working at an eatery was arrested on Friday in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh after a video of him spitting on a customer's roti was surfaced online.

The video showed the 20-year-old accused, Irfan, spitting on a roti before placing it in the tandoor. It was shared on social media on Thursday, news agency PTI reported citing a police officer.

Irfan worked at an eatery located near Lodhi Chowk police outpost in Ghaziabad. He is a native of Nai Basti, Dhampur in Bijnor district, police said.

Soon after the video surfaced on social media, Khoda police visited the eatery and apprehended the accused.

The arrest was confirmed by Indirapuram Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Swatantra Kumar Singh. He asaid that the Food Safety and Drugs Department had conducted a sampling at the eatery where the incident took place.

A vegetable vendor was arrested in UP's Bulandshahr in December last year after a video showed him spitting on vegetables while selling them in the Anupshahr police station area.

The act was captured on a mobile phone's camera and shared on social media. After the video went viral, the police searched for the vendor and arrested him. The man was identified as Shabeem from Nai Basti area.

In another similar incident, a juice vendor was arrested in the Shamli district after a video of him spitting in juice circulated online. The accused, Asif, was arrested by the Sadar Kotwali police after the video went viral. The video showed him wiping his mouth after spitting into the customers' juice mug.
