Ishant Sharma Lauds Former Australia Captain, Calls Him 'The Best Coach Ever'

Ishant Sharma, who plays for franchise Delhi Capitals in the cash-rich India Premier League (IPL), praised former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting.

New Delhi: India cricket team's senior speedster Ishant Sharma has been very active on social media amid the COVID-19-induced lockdown. As the nation engages in a battle with the coronavirus pandemic, lethal paceman Ishant can now possibly return to practice after the government, in Lockdown 4.0 regulations, allowed stadiums and sports complex to open without spectators. Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma, who plays for franchise Delhi Capitals in the cash-rich India Premier League (IPL), praised former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting and said his conversation with the Delhi Capitals coach helped him to improve his skills and gave him a lot of confidence. "He's the best coach I've ever met. I was very nervous when I was returning to the IPL last season. I was almost feeling like a debutant walking into the camp the first day but he gave me a lot of confidence since the first day I arrived at the Delhi Capitals camp." Ishant Sharma went on to add and said, "You're a senior player and you should help the youngsters. Don't worry about anything you're my first choice". The Delhi-born has been leading team India's pace attack in the longest format (Test cricket) for a long time now. The star bowler has bagged 297 wickets in 97 games for his national squad with a good economy rate of 3.18. Ishant Sharma's career suffered a major jolt when he had to miss the away tour against New Zeland after he suffered a Grade 3 tear on his right ankle while playing for Delhi in their Ranji Trophy encounter against Vidarbha.
