Yuvraj Singh remained unsold despite lowering his base price to 1 crore. He will surely comeback later in the pool but a big setback for India’s world cup hero

BCCI CoA member Diana Edulji welcomed everyone for the auction and addresses the room in Jaipur as the IPL Auction got underway. She welcomed everyone and thanked all the teams, players and sponsors.

Auctions

The biggest news that came out of the first round of the IPL Auction so far was that Yuvraj Singh remained unsold despite lowering his base price to 1 crore. He will surely comeback later in the pool but a big setback for India’s world cup hero.

In the first round, no franchise showed faith in him and invested. Yuvraj Singh, who was released by Kings XI Punjab earlier this year, had set his base price at Rs 1 crore for IPL 2019 auction. Not only his fitness has been a big concern but his poor performance in the recent Ranji Trophy made things worse for him.

Undoubtedly, there is a possibility that Yuvi fans nightmare turns into reality if he remains unsold.

Wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow became the first England cricketer to be sold in the IPL 2019 auctions. His base price was 1.5 crore and he goes for 2 crore 20 lakhs to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Star players like Manoj Tiwary, Cheteshwar Pujara, Alex Hales, Hanuma Vihari remained unsold.

Hanuma Vihari becomes the first player to be sold in IPL 2019 auctions. He was to Delhi Capitals for a whopping 2 crores.

India middle-order batsman Hanuma Vihari, who recently impressed everyone with his grit and determination, attracted a fair bit in the auctions. The battle was between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.

After having a good run in the domestic circuit, Hanuma Vihari had entered this year’s auction with a base price of Rs 50 Lakh. Currently, Vihari is a part of the touring India squad against Australia and also was a part of the playing XI against the same side.

Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad fought tooth and nail but Royal Challengers Bangalore came and stole Hetmyer with just one final bid. Hetmyer was sold to RCB for a whopping 4 crore 20 lakhs.

It was a great day for West Indies T20 captain Carlos Brathwaite. From a base price of 75 lakhs, he attracts 5 crores. He goes to Kolkata Knight Riders after a prolonged battle – the longest so far – with KXIP. A back-up option for Andre Russell for sure.

Indian all-rounder Gurkeerat Singh Mann was sold for his base price of 50 lakhs to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques has been picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 1 crore.

Delhi Capitals snatched Axar Patel for 5 crores from Kings XI Punjab. Delhi needed all-rounders after letting three of them go for a trade with Sunrisers to bring Shikhar Dhawan back.

Indian wicket-keeper batsman Naman Ojha goes unsold in the IPL 2019 auctions.

Fit-again Wriddhiman Saha returns to Sunrisers Hyderabad for 1 crore 20 lakhs. He was released by SRH after an iffy IPL season but he has been picked up again. SRH needed a wicket-keeper in their ranks, their only choice till now was Bengal’s Sreevats Goswami.
